Swimming in the rapids of Ahvionkoski

First you just slowly float in the water, then the water starts picking up speed- this is something you will never forget.

We will kick off the programme by meeting at a local coffee shop, Mari’s coffee, where a warm cup of coffee awaits you. You will also be given all the necessary equipment for the trip. After this the entourage will be transported to Ahvionkoski- rapids. When there, you will put on the necessary equipment and after that your guide will go through the safety requirements for safe swimming in the rapids .  Your guide will eventually take you all swimming in Ahvionkoski. The first part of the rapids is leisurely floating in the water and enjoying the river, whereas the second part contains swimming in Martinkoski, led by your guide.

Swimmers can  either swim or take advantage of a canoe to make it to the shore, where they will be taken back to the start of the rapids onto a rubber raft. The raft will then travel towards the main river, where from the swimmers will once again swim through the rapids.
